Dave, The head worked out great, got it back together that Friday night about 2 am, had my son ride it around the plate about 30 minutes, changed the oil and checked the valves, got to bed at 4 o'clock, got up at 6 o'clock and headed to the track, and it was worth it. My son was tickled with the way the motor ran, he said there was a big difference in horsepower out of the corners. The holeshots are back too, he got the holeshot in both his qualifiers and the 125B main and was 2nd in the 16-24 going around the first corner, right behind a 450, come home with 2 thirds for the day. Can't wait to get back outdoors to see how it runs.
I am extremely happy with the results. I will definitely send business your way. I received the package today. Will install when I receive the pins, and let you know how it runs. Thanks and have a good weekend. Tim Burner
Dave, we got the head back on Thursday and had it installed that night. After a sudden drop in temperatures on Friday which gave me time to correct my screw up (ran the bike for a couple of minutes with antifreeze in the oil, duh!) we loaded the bike and ran the heck out of it on Saturday. My son said the bike blew him away with the power gain from the head work. We want to thank you for you for the good job! I’ll recommend you to others and when my 450X needs help I’ll be calling.
Dave, I want to first thank you for the head work you did on my 05 kx250f and info on jetting and fuel. My bike really rips now. I also want to thank you for adding me to your sponsorship program. I am sending some pictures of my self to post on your website and look forward to representing your company and sending business your way from NY and the east coast. Thanks again Josh Haskell
Hi Dave, I picked the head up from the post office today. It looks good! I can't wait to get it together. Thank you for the great work and great packaging!! I'll let you know how many hours I get out of it..... I've been spreading the word about your website. I think it's a pretty good deal myself, so I'm telling everyone that needs valve work about you and your services.
To add to the many other positive posts about MXTIME, INC., I recently changed out my topend with a new cylinder/piston and shipped MXtime my old head to have reworked. Dave with MXtime was very professional and a friendly person to deal with.
Dave, I took the bike out this weekend to break the motor in and I do have to say that I feel the difference! I want to personally thank you and your team at MXtime for making this experience painless.
For those wondering about what to do, where to send off your head or in need of valve/engine work, keep it simple and send off your parts to MXtime. You will not be let down!
Since we live in a day and time where service has severely gone down the tubes, in my opinion, MXtime has set the bar.
I would also like to thank Thumpertalk members for posting this information because I had no idea where to send my parts to.
Last but not least, I am in no way affiliated with MXtime. I am just giving MXtime the credit they deserve for doing a fantasic job! Troy Gomez, Mandeville,LA
Dave, is the best. His help and service is excellent. Mxtime is what customer service is all about far better than any shop I have ever had to deal with. Will come back and hope to send more business. Thanks Scott
I just wanted to post that I sent my 2004 CRF250X head off to Dave at MXTIME, just got it back, installed and it started on the second try The head looked wonderful, better than new, and I am very pleased. I took it out for a 30/40 minute ride at about 3/4 throttle and it is running like new again. Thanks to Dave at MXTime.....he answered all of my questions...did what he said he was going to do....and is very professional. I would use him again in a heart beat and I recommend him to everyone.
I just want to say thanks for the head work you did for me. The work is top notch and I will be sure to use you for all my future valve jobs. I also have recomened you on several forums and web sites as well as to many friends.
I have had two good rides since I put the head back on. My bike is running great, and I am sure it will for a long time. I really appreciate the work. I'll make sure to send any other type of work your way when I need it. Thanks again. - D. Justin Smith
Well, it wasn't my float...... I needed to learn the on posistion for the fuel petcock. It's ass backwards than what you would think, but you can still call me a dumb*&#.
Holy s*#t does the bike rip!!!!!! Throttle response is ungodly, like a 2 stroke. Kudos to you dude, I am more than happy with it. I put the Vortex ignition on bottom end map and can't keep the front wheel on the ground through 4th... i'm not sh#@&in. Very smooth. If anyone every ask you about gear set polishing, tell them to do it, it as smooth as butter.
Anyway , I attached some pics for whatever its worth. My business will always be with you.
Hi Dave, I just wanted to let you know that I am very satisfied now. I finally got a chance to ride this past weekend at MC Motopark. Everything seems to be working great now. I'm not sure if it was the new head bolts or the extra 1/4 turn on them or the combination of both. But there was no coolant loss. The bike runs great, I can feel more power and torque from the 290 kit with no loss of top end with the stage 2 Hotcams. I love it. Thanks for all your help and support. You guys are the best. Kris
I would like to take a moment of your time to thank you. We assembled my son's CRF450 and he has been riding just about every day since. The assembly went together flawlessly as expected and the bike fired up within about three kicks. The kid says it is running good and running strong.
I have one question for you on the valve clearances. Should we run them a little on the tight or loose side? Everyone seems to say something different and my own opinion, for what it's worth, is to run them a bit tight but still as close to spec as possible.
Lastly I would like to thank you for tracking the package and calling when you thought that there was an issue with the postal service trying to make delivery three time unsuccessfully. The postal service doesn't actually deliver to our door but to a group of rural postal boxes where we pick up our mail from a locked box. They give us a card that states we have a parcel and then we go to the ocal postal outlet and pick up the package from there. I don't think there are many businesses that would show the type of customer servicethat you did. So again thank you and If I have anyone needing head work done I will be recomending you as the shop of choice.
Dave, thank you so much for your help with everything. I am second overall in the womens Central Kansas Motocross Series in the women's class. Your work made my bike dependable and I couldn't have done it without you!!! Thanks so much The Kansas girl, Jenni Nelson #54
From thumpertalk: the fella i spoke to (dave) is at www.mxtime.com
5 minute talk with him revealed his expereince and expertise with the kx65. his daughter had one and is where he learned to modd the kx65 for smoother power for her.
also has some great ideas for slowly increasing the power and hit back into the bike when he/she is ready. really nice guy!
Thumpertalk: sent my head to mxtime off my 06 at 62 hours when my left intake went to 0 after a few shims. Still running great at about 97 hours. He(Dave I think) was easy to get a hold of and answered all my emails and the turnaround time was pretty quick. I had the faction kit installed on the intake and exhaust.
I had mine done in october of 07 and its still going strong. i put about 70 hours on it and i had to reshim one intake at 10 hours. i had dave put the faction valves in it also. no complaints here
I had my intake valves replaced with steel ones and had Dave put heavier springs on in my Crf250 head. Its been one race season and still my valves are in speck. Love MXTIME!!!!!
Check out www.mxtime.com Dave did mine about six months ago I'm very happy with his work. He will do just the intakes which is all that is usually needed. Or all four if you wish. Hope this info helps.
Wanted to let everyone know about a more than positive experience I recently had with a vendor.
MX Time treated us VERY well with a head I sent out to them. He didn't oversell me on parts, seemed knowledgeable and turned it around in a decent time frame.
You can't just put in new valves. Well you could, but you would just be throwing away money. The guides need to be checked, the seats cut, and new springs and seals installed. I suggest you make the switch to stainless steel valves. There are tons of threads on this subject. I suggest you contact Dave at MXTime. I had him rebuild my head. He does a great job, fast turn, good price.
Send it to MXTIME for a rebuild. Seats cut, new valves and springs for around $425. You'll get it back shimmed and ready to go. He does very good work. www.mxtime.com
I've used En**** D*******, they cut the seats on one of my CRF heads. They do great work, but their turn around time can be long.
I just had another CRF head done by MX Time in Indiana. I always like to support local business, but MX Time is cheaper, they do just as good of work, and their turn around time is 1 - 2 days. Last time I had a head done at E***** D*******, it took 2 weeks to get it back.
I recently put in a JE 13.5:1 and new SS valves by MXTime. I run a blend of 110 race gas and 93 pump gas. The bike runs great. There is a little hesitation in the starter when turning it over cold so I keep the battery fully charged. My 450 friends can't believe how hard this bike pulls.
I don't think there is any definitive answer as to how long re-shimming will last. Once the valve starts to wear it will continue to do so. Eventually the valve will break and then you are in big trouble. I re-shimmed twice then just bit the bullet and had the head re-valved. I had Dave at MXTime do mine. All four valves, new springs, complete job and back to me in less than a week for just over $400. While it was apart I put in a JE 13.5 to 1 piston. The bike runs great now.
